Our Programs: Wildlife Rescue

New for 2008, the Conservancy has created a partnership with Rudi Woykowski, owner of Rudi's Reptile Removal.

Rudi's primary business is specializing in the gentle removal of snakes and other small wildlife from places they need not be due to safety or health concerns. This business founds the basis for his wildlife rescue operation.

If you have an animal that needs to be moved or wish to make a donation to help him fund his efforts to help wild creatures, please call: 540.357.2792

Special Summer Programs with Rudi
Rudi will be doing an educational program on a semi-regular basis with us at the Activity Barn.

Rudi will bring a variety of reptiles and amphibians from southwest Virginia, including but not limited to... all venemous species of snakes in Virginia; kingsnakes and ratsnakes, local turtle species, lizards and amphibians.

Also on display wil be animals of extreme size differences (a 40lb. snapping turtle / musk turtle the size of a nickle) with discussion of how they fill different ecological niches. Participants will learn about the natural history, myths and other facts pertaining to the animals on hand as well as seeing the differences between venemous and non-venemous snakes that are visually similiar.

Everyone will have the chance to interact with live animals.

Proceeds from this program will provide funding for Wildlife Rescue and Mountain Lake Conservancy.
